How To Use Display Screen Equipment

The Display Screen Equipment (DSE) Regulations require employers to carry out a suitable and sufficient analysis and risk assessment for DSE users within their business.

Assessing DSE involves evaluating the risks in using display screen equipment, and making sure the appropriate measures are put in place to mitigate these risks.

Assess Work Stations  This means evaluating the setup of the workstation, including the position of the screen, keyboard, mouse, and chair, to ensure the equipment is arranged ergonomically to minimise strain on the body.
Assess User Habits In this part of a DSE assessment, you’re looking at how individuals use their equipment, including their posture, duration of use, and breaks, to help ensure proper usage habits, and reduce the risk of injuries.
Assess The Environment Another essential part of a DSE assessment is looking at the surrounding environment, such as lighting, glare, and noise levels, to make sure that external factors aren’t contributing to discomfort or health issues.
